About the position
Leidos is seeking experienced and highly qualified Russian/Ukrainian linguists to perform a variety of language-related tasks including translation, interpretation, transcription, and summarization. The role requires a strong understanding of cultural and regional nuances, as well as the ability to produce accurate written and verbal communications in both the target language and English. Candidates will also need to demonstrate proficiency in using reference materials and computer skills, particularly with MS Office.
Responsibilities
- Translate reports and texts in electronic and hard-copy formats, capturing intended implications and nuances.
- Interpret accurately, primarily through consecutive interpretation, with occasional simultaneous interpretation.
- Transcribe audio or internet materials with high accuracy and expression.
- Prepare reports with excellent English-language written communication skills.
- Summarize factual points and abstract concepts accurately, isolating pertinent information.
Requirements
- BA/BS degree or equivalent formal military training, or 8+ years of related work experience.
- Ability to pass a language test administered by Leidos or an accepted commercial testing vendor.
- Excellent English-language verbal communication skills for giving briefings.
- Mastery of reference materials and computer skills, including MS Office.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience deployed as a linguist supporting contingency operations.
- Knowledge of the U.S. Intelligence Community, military, cryptologic, or law enforcement experience.
- Proficiency in multiple languages.
