About the position

The Market Plan President for Wellpoint Western New York is responsible for overseeing the fiscal and operational management of the Medicaid Health Plan. This role involves leading the Medicaid business to ensure high-quality care and exceptional member experiences while managing the Medicaid P&L. The President will also foster strategic relationships, ensure compliance with regulations, and drive business development efforts to expand the member base.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Wellpoint's Western New York Medicaid business to provide high-quality care and exceptional member experience.
  • Align strategy to achieve business goals and build a culture of accountability.
  • Manage the Medicaid P&L for the health plan.
  • Foster strategic relationships with Alliance partners.
  • Oversee operating gain, growth, cost of care commitments, revenue, quality, and accreditation goals.
  • Develop and manage key State regulatory and legislative relationships and processes.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to maintain and expand Wellpoint's Medicaid footprint.
  • Collaborate with shared services support to reach Health Plan objectives.
  • Ensure contract compliance and provide oversight of risk management programs.
  • Lead business development efforts to expand member base through RFPs and promotional activities.
  • Create strong teams and structure to drive performance across the health plan.
  • Set a strong culture of development for people and teams.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of 12 years of related experience, including 8 years in government-sponsored health insurance programs.
  • Prior leadership experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • 8+ years' experience across government and/or commercial health insurance LOBs, including 3 years in government market.
  • 5+ years of management experience in operations, quality, sales, or government relations.
  • 2+ years undergoing growth or performance transformations in a health insurance context.
  • RFP experience.
  • Experience with P&L management.
  • Experience growing a health insurance plan with strong commercial acumen.
