About the position

We are seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our small but busy clinic located in downtown Dixon, CA. The role involves a variety of tasks related to animal care, including anesthetic monitoring, surgical assistance, and performing various veterinary procedures. The ideal candidate will have a flexible schedule and be able to work both opening and closing shifts, as well as weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Inductions and recovery of animals
• Anesthetic monitoring and surgical assisting
• Drawing up narcotics for surgical procedures or sedations
• Filling controlled medication prescribed by a veterinarian
• Performing dental and general radiography
• Minor bandaging and venipuncture
• Collecting samples and in-house lab sample processing
• Administering vaccinations, nail trims, and expressing anal glands
• Conducting heartworm testing and suture removal
• Taking vital signs and administering SQ, IM, and IV injections
• Placing IV catheters
• Maintaining medical records and entering medical notes
• Explaining animal status to owners
• Cleaning animal cages and equipment
• Preparing surgery table and instruments
• Assisting with front desk duties such as answering phone calls and scheduling appointments.

Requirements

• At least one year of veterinary experience
• Graduate from an accredited vet tech school
• Pass the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE)
• Complete a federal background check
• Knowledge of animal behavior and husbandry
• Strong documentation skills
• Ability to analyze information and use medical technologies
• Attention to detail and patience
• Verbal communication skills and technical understanding.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with canine and feline patients
• Ability to work with pocket pets.
