About the position

The S.O.A.R. Benefits Coordinator at Association House of Chicago is a full-time role focused on assisting individuals in Specialized Mental Health Rehabilitation Facilities and Nursing Facilities with applying for Social Security Benefits through the SOAR program. This position emphasizes collaboration, crisis management, and support services to help clients achieve stabilization and access necessary resources. The role is integral to the organization's mission of promoting health, wellness, and economic advancement within a diverse community.

Responsibilities

• Perform assessments with referred class members to determine eligibility for the SOAR program and SSA benefits.
• Track the status and outcomes of applications and appeals using the national SOAR Online Application Tracking system.
• Provide crisis management services using de-escalating principles.
• Ensure access to needed services to achieve stabilization and participate in developing, implementing, and monitoring support services.
• Participate actively in program meetings, trainings, and clinical staffing.
• Support agency programs and events.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or a related field, or CRSS/CPRS certification.
• 1+ years of case management experience within mental health, substance use/recovery, or IDD fields.
• S.O.A.R. certification, which can be obtained within 40 days of hire if not already certified.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in mental health or substance use/recovery fields (1 year preferred).
• Driver's License (preferred).
