About the position

The Manager of Event Operations at SXSW, LLC. is a seasonal role focused on overseeing event logistics, managing personnel, and ensuring the successful execution of events. This position requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in event operations and a strong ability to lead a team while adhering to timelines and budgetary goals. The role involves both administrative and on-site responsibilities, emphasizing customer service and collaboration with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage seasonal staff and independent contractors.
  • Oversee and support staff in planning and executing catering, accessibility, and event status operations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to support event operations.
  • Work with relevant departments to develop and enhance functional plans for event operations.
  • Oversee contract negotiation and execution for Event Operations vendors while maintaining strong vendor relationships.
  • Partner with department leadership to achieve budgetary goals.
  • Support administrative duties and projects within the department.
  • Engage in project management to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Reinforce both internal and external customer service efforts.
  • Attend required training, continuing education, and meetings.
  • Ensure accountability for the productivity and effectiveness of your team.
  • Uphold company policies and procedures, serving as a role model for others while fostering a safety culture.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of event operations and logistics experience.
  • Prior experience managing personnel.
  • Outstanding internal and external customer service skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to write, edit, and produce grammatically correct documentation in English.
  • Highly organized with keen attention to detail.
  • Confidence in making decisions while working under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable working with a team and independently.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage timelines.
  • Knowledge of Google Workspace, MS Office, Airtable, and a willingness to learn new software.
