About the position

The sUAS Airspace Analyst is responsible for the safe and efficient integration of small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS) into both controlled and uncontrolled airspace. This role requires expertise in airspace integration, regulatory compliance, and UAS operations, ensuring adherence to FAA regulations and DoD guidelines. The analyst will collaborate with various teams to facilitate safe sUAS operations and develop strategies for airspace integration.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies for the integration of sUAS into national and local airspace.
  • Ensure all sUAS operations comply with FAA regulations and DoD requirements.
  • Work with flight operations teams to conduct risk assessments and mission planning.
  • Collaborate with Air Traffic Control (ATC) and relevant agencies for safe sUAS operations.
  • Develop and evaluate risk mitigation strategies for sUAS operations.
  • Conduct airspace compatibility assessments and validation testing for sUAS platforms.
  • Support the integration of sUAS with advanced airspace management technologies.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records of airspace assessments and compliance activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Aviation, or a related field.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in airspace engineering, aviation operations, or related fields.
  • In-depth knowledge of FAA Part 107, UAS operations, and national airspace regulations.
  • Familiarity with DoD and military airspace use policies and regulations is preferred.
  • Proficiency in airspace risk assessment and sUAS mission planning.
  • Strong understanding of UTM systems, remote ID, and airspace management technologies.
  • Ability to work with ATC and other regulatory bodies to obtain flight approvals and waivers.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in team settings.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with radar systems, detect-and-avoid technologies, or UAS ground control software.
  • Knowledge of airspace modeling and simulation tools.
  • Certification in sUAS operations (e.g., FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification).
  • Experience working on DoD sUAS programs or other government-related UAS initiatives.
