About the position

The Junior Linux System Administrator at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center will be responsible for managing approximately 100 Linux computer systems within a diverse computing environment that includes Microsoft Windows and macOS. The role involves collaborating with a team of system administrators to ensure the interoperability of Linux systems, supporting research in atmospheric sciences.

Responsibilities

• Manage approximately 100 Linux computer systems.
• Collaborate with a team of system administrators to ensure interoperability with Windows and macOS systems.
• Support research in atmospheric sciences by maintaining Linux systems.

Requirements

• Three years of experience working with Red Hat Enterprise Linux or its derivative operating systems.
• Basic hands-on experience with IT equipment including replacing components in a computer.
• Excellent communication, problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Working familiarity with configuration management tools such as Puppet or Ansible.
• The ability to write clear documentation.
• Experience with the Windows and macOS operating systems.
