About the position

The STRC / LKN Advocate position at Safe Alliance is a full-time role focused on providing support and advocacy for individuals impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and child maltreatment. The advocate will employ a trauma-informed, client-centered approach to deliver case management, crisis intervention, and educational support, ensuring coordinated care with community partners. This role also involves public speaking and outreach to raise awareness about victimization and available resources.

Responsibilities

  • Provide intake, assessment, case management, crisis intervention, safety planning, court education, information, and referrals.
  • Act with client in mind to provide long-term advocacy and case management services.
  • Provide hospital response and telephone and hotline crisis intervention as needed.
  • Ensure coordinated client care with key community partners, including onsite support at hospitals and local law enforcement agencies.
  • Accompany victims to the hospital, police department, or court during regular work hours and on-call as needed.
  • Educate clients on the protective order process and coordinate with the Victim Assistance and Legal Representation Program.
  • Provide occasional courtroom support and crisis intervention for clients as directed by supervisor.
  • Facilitate support groups and maintain a caseload of advocacy clients.
  • Manage and supervise volunteers and interns as programmatically necessary.
  • Participate in community multi-disciplinary team meetings and advocate on behalf of clients.
  • Maintain confidential and accurate client and program records in agency databases.
  • Research, write, and manage grant reporting and grantor relationships as assigned.
  • Adhere to agency and program procedures concerning documentation and participate in the Quality Assurance process.
  • Increase awareness of victimization and available resources through public speaking and media requests.
  • Engage onsite at local law enforcement agencies to provide survivor support and education.
  • Promote and maintain professional relationships with agency staff, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Contribute to quality of services by staying informed of best practices and attending training courses.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience working with victims or experience in human services preferred
  • Spanish-speaking preferred
