About the position

The Safe Parking Site Coordinator plays a crucial role in the operations of the Safe Spaces program, which provides safe parking for individuals experiencing homelessness. This part-time position involves ensuring the safety and cleanliness of the parking sites, assisting program participants, and maintaining communication with the Program Manager. The coordinator will work closely with the local homeless community and provide trauma-informed support.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular rounds at assigned sites up to 6 days a week.
• Interface with participants in-person and provide on-site support that is trauma-informed.
• Maintain records of facility details and monitor bathroom cleanliness.
• Restock portable bathrooms, empty trash bins, and ensure sites are orderly every day.
• Communicate via group text, noting any significant events.
• Track and report participant attendance to the Program Manager.
• Attend weekly site coordinator meetings and other program meetings regularly.
• Coordinate the monthly delivery of placards to participants within the first week of every month.
• Track mileage and submit timesheets regularly; request time-off or shift coverage promptly.

Requirements

• Must have a valid CA driver's license; reliable vehicle in good repair; current vehicle registration and proof of insurance.
• Working knowledge of the local homeless community, its complexity, and challenges.
• Knowledge of local social services and trauma-informed services for the poor.
• Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.
• Skill in active listening, problem-solving, and setting boundaries in a compassionate and respectful manner.
• Completion of High School education.
• Some experience working with the homeless and/or the extremely poor.
• Experience communicating via email, text, and telephone.
