Urban Metro Builders Inc., a division of BFL Construction, specializes in both multi-family and single-family residential projects. We are currently seeking a Construction Safety Specialist to join our team in Tucson, AZ. This full-time position is crucial for the overall administration of safety guidelines across our projects. The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for developing their own knowledge of safety protocols and the construction process, enforcing compliance with regulations, and reviewing health and safety guidelines to prevent injuries. This role is essential in providing a safe working environment for all employees and subcontractors on site. The Safety Coordinator will monitor safety efforts of subcontractors and BFL employees, conduct weekly project safety “Tool Box” meetings, and enforce safety guidelines through coaching and corrective measures. They will ensure that the procedures outlined in the Site-Specific Safety Plan (SSSP) and Emergency Action Plan (EAP) are implemented effectively. Additionally, the Coordinator will oversee the issuance of new hire safety documents, lead the immersion of new employees into the BFL safety culture, and coordinate with project supervision to ensure that personal protective equipment and safety materials are available and utilized correctly. This position requires a proactive approach to safety, including maintaining the OSHA 300 log of injuries and illnesses, conducting safety inspections, and promoting BFL's safety culture. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of safety compliance reporting and will work closely with site leadership in accident investigations and root cause analysis. The role also involves continuous hazard identification and the implementation of corrective measures to ensure a safe working environment for all.
