About the position

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for implementing, administering, maintaining, and coordinating all safety policies and programs at IES Communications. This role ensures compliance with safety standards and develops initiatives to prevent occupational incidents, injuries, and illnesses. The Safety Coordinator will conduct safety training, perform audits, and collaborate with management to uphold safety culture across projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support all IES and Site/Customer safety policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Ensure compliance with IES Safety Policies and Procedures within the Communications Division.
  • Perform and develop safety presentations and related training as required.
  • Schedule and conduct jobsite safety audits/inspections for compliance.
  • Oversee activities involving confined space entry and related documentation.
  • Identify potential hazards and develop safety action plans for compliance issues.
  • Develop processes to reduce or eliminate hazards and safety incidents.
  • Deliver safety new employee orientation and OSHA training as needed.
  • Coordinate safety training for management and field personnel.
  • Prepare written reports regarding safety audits and incidents.
  • Conduct root cause investigations on recordable incidents and near misses.
  • Lead OSHA inspection processes and communicate with stakeholders.
  • Maintain safety-related records and reports.
  • Teach and mentor stakeholders to uphold the IES Safety Culture.
  • Coordinate activities with site management.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required; Associate degree or higher preferred.
  • EMT or higher credentials preferred.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in construction safety, preferably in telecommunications or electrical industry.
  • Knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Safety and Health Regulations for Construction.
  • Knowledge of Confined Space Entry Standards 1926.1200 Subpart AA preferred.
  • Current status as an Authorized OSHA OTI 500 Construction Outreach Trainer.
  • CHST Certification or equivalent preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office (WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint & Outlook).
  • Detail-oriented with high level organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in telecommunications or electrical industry safety practices.
  • Additional safety certifications beyond OSHA 30.
