About the position

The Safety and Risk Engineer position at Worley involves working within the Safety Engineering Department to ensure that health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards are maintained throughout project design phases. The role focuses on providing technical assurance for process safety and loss prevention activities, participating in hazard studies, and supporting other offices with process safety assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring HSE aspects of design meet acceptable standards and comply with legislation.
  • Providing technical assurance across process safety and loss prevention activities.
  • Gathering and compiling process safety information.
  • Participating and coordinating Hazard Studies, including HAZIDs, What-Ifs, HAZOP, and LOPAs.
  • Leading and managing post Hazard Studies activities, specifically Action Items Tracking.
  • Undertaking Process Safety Reviews such as Hazardous Area Classification.
  • Recommending additional Process Safety reviews due to scope changes or design development.
  • Checking completion of all required Process Safety Reviews.
  • Ensuring all project phase documentation is filed correctly for the next phase.
  • Supporting other Worley offices with ad-hoc requests for Process Safety assistance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience, preferably with some EPC background.
