About the position

The Safety Field Representative at Port of Corpus Christi is responsible for performing complex field safety tasks and providing extensive safety support to field operations. This role involves conducting safety checks, identifying hazards, providing safety training, and assisting the Safety Manager in various safety-related functions. The representative will engage with field operations to promote safety awareness and ensure compliance with safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex field safety tasks and provide extensive safety support to field operations during daylight/night hours.
  • Conduct frequent and regular safety checks of the work environment, equipment, and personnel.
  • Work with field operations personnel to identify, address, and resolve safety hazards and controls.
  • Provide safety coaching and guidance to field operations and promote safety awareness through various communications.
  • Relay complex instructions and information to other personnel in the absence of the Safety Manager.
  • Assist with identifying safety training needs and provide regular safety training as directed.
  • Research relevant topics for safety meetings and assist in preparation of safety documents.
  • Support the Safety Manager in communication with officials, contractors, and customers.
  • Manage coordination of all operations safety equipment inventory.
  • Maintain accurate records regarding safety training and contribute to incident reporting.
  • Assist with emergency response planning and drills.
  • Participate in the Cross Functional Safety Advocacy Group.
  • Adhere to Port policy and maintain good employee relations.
  • Drive vehicle as necessary to complete assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 30 credit hours of college courses, preferably safety related.
  • OSHA 10 certification/Confined Space Entry competent person certification.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Minimum two years of work experience in a safety or occupational health related position.
  • Knowledge of safety and occupational health methods and theories.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Windows, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and email systems.
  • Ability to understand and apply PCCA policies and state/federal laws.
  • Ability to prepare complete written reports and interface effectively with diverse groups.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPR certified or ability to become certified within the first year of employment.
