About the position

The Safety Manager at Dennis Group is responsible for developing, managing, and implementing a comprehensive Health and Safety Program for various industrial construction projects. This role involves ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, conducting safety training, and overseeing safety practices on job sites. The Safety Manager will work closely with construction teams and subcontractors to promote a safe working environment and investigate accidents to implement corrective actions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing health and safety program.
  • Coordinate health and safety training and activities.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws.
  • Compile incident rate data on injuries and accidents.
  • Prepare and deliver safety toolbox talks and training topics.
  • Implement and enforce Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Activities Hazard Analysis (AHAs).
  • Attend and prepare safety actions for pre-construction and project meetings.
  • Conduct and document Jobsite Safety Observations.
  • Review subcontractor safety pre-qualification submittals.
  • Establish job site safety procedures with Construction Managers and Sr Safety Managers.
  • Act as full-time on-site safety coordinator as required.
  • Review safety programs with client representatives and governmental agencies.
  • Research construction safety best practices.
  • Educate and provide training on accident/injury prevention procedures.
  • Investigate accidents and determine root causes.
  • Prepare and distribute data reports of accident and incident metrics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in health and safety, risk management, or construction.
  • 4-7 years of experience overseeing safety activities on construction projects.
  • 4-7 years of experience in developing and coordinating health and safety training.
  • 4-7 years of experience in performing construction job site safety inspections.
  • OSHA training certifications and other professional certifications.
  • Proficient in MS Windows, Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel to job sites throughout North America as required.
