About the position

The Safety Manager will direct, develop, and oversee health and safety policies and procedures across multiple Federal Heath sites. The primary goal is to ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards while fostering a positive safety culture that promotes an injury-free workplace. This role involves collaboration with local leadership to execute environmental health and safety (EHS) requirements and manage various safety programs.

Responsibilities

  • Direct, develop, and oversee health and safety policies and procedures for multiple sites.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards.
  • Conduct periodic safety audits and develop processes to reduce and prevent accidents.
  • Promote a positive safety culture resulting in an injury-free workplace.
  • Collaborate with local leadership on EHS requirements and company programs.
  • Assign and track EHS activities and corrective action plans to completion.
  • Assess facility programs against performance standards and develop corrective action plans.
  • Manage leading indicator efforts including safe work observation and hazard recognition.
  • Lead contractor safety efforts and monitor compliance with work plans.
  • Manage energy control, hearing conservation, and chemical management programs.
  • Participate in internal and external EHS audits and inspections.
  • Lead incident investigations and manage the worker's compensation process.
  • Strategically plan and deliver required employee training.
  • Maintain plant-wide EHS communications and prepare information for meetings.
  • Promote sustainability of safety leadership tools and provide feedback to leaders.
  • Support an active cross-functional safety committee.
  • Maintain files, environmental permits, and certifications.
  • Lead improvement efforts to enhance EHS performance.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of EHS experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • DOT experience and management.
  • Experience with progressive EHS cultures and safety leadership.
  • Knowledge of EHS compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with internal and external audits.
  • Aptitude for organization, prioritization, and managing multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work collaboratively to accomplish EHS objectives.
  • Willingness to travel to support multiple facilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
