About the position
The Safety Manager is responsible for managing and enforcing the Site Safety Program for assigned projects, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and promoting a culture of safety among the crew. This role involves identifying and controlling hazardous conditions to prevent injuries and property damage, conducting inspections, and providing safety training.
Responsibilities
- Manage and enforce the Site Safety Program for assigned projects.
- Identify, eliminate, and control hazardous conditions that may lead to injury or property damage.
- Enforce safe work practices in accordance with State, Federal, Local regulations and Site Specific policies.
- Conduct daily and/or weekly job site inspections and record observations.
- Investigate and document all accidents, incidents, and near misses on the jobsite.
- Recommend and implement corrective actions based on policies and guidelines.
- Conduct weekly Toolbox Safety Meetings and document content and attendance.
- Conduct Safety Orientation for new employees.
- Advise project staff on site-specific safety issues and guidelines.
- Evaluate the need for safety training and make recommendations.
Requirements
- Thorough knowledge of General Industry methods and OSHA standards.
- OSHA 30 General Industry Certification is required; OSHA 501 is a plus.
- 5-10 years of safety experience in the construction industry is required.
- Basic working knowledge of MS Office and Windows.
