About the position

The Safety Manager is responsible for managing and enforcing the Site Safety Program for assigned projects, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and promoting a culture of safety among the crew. This role involves identifying and controlling hazardous conditions to prevent injuries and property damage, conducting inspections, and providing safety training.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and enforce the Site Safety Program for assigned projects.
  • Identify, eliminate, and control hazardous conditions that may lead to injury or property damage.
  • Enforce safe work practices in accordance with State, Federal, Local regulations and Site Specific policies.
  • Conduct daily and/or weekly job site inspections and record observations.
  • Investigate and document all accidents, incidents, and near misses on the jobsite.
  • Recommend and implement corrective actions based on policies and guidelines.
  • Conduct weekly Toolbox Safety Meetings and document content and attendance.
  • Conduct Safety Orientation for new employees.
  • Advise project staff on site-specific safety issues and guidelines.
  • Evaluate the need for safety training and make recommendations.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of General Industry methods and OSHA standards.
  • OSHA 30 General Industry Certification is required; OSHA 501 is a plus.
  • 5-10 years of safety experience in the construction industry is required.
  • Basic working knowledge of MS Office and Windows.
