About the position

The Safety Manager will provide support in various functional areas of safety to employees and management, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws. The role emphasizes compliance management, employee engagement, injury prevention activities, and training, aiming to foster a safe working environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist, plan, and implement HSE policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA and DOT regulations.
  • Develop, evaluate, and upgrade HSE programs.
  • Lead HSE program improvements, environmental compliance, safety training, and site security.
  • Engage and maintain Safety teams including Safety Committee and Medical First Responders.
  • Perform safety surveys, inspections, and risk assessments, preparing reports of findings and recommendations.
  • Investigate work-related incidents to determine causes and implement prevention measures.
  • Manage work-related injuries and workers' compensation claims.
  • Analyze incident reports and trends to develop action plans for a safer environment.
  • Develop initiatives that reward safe behavior and accident prevention.
  • Maintain Hazard Communication program and Safety Data Sheets program.
  • Instill management accountability for safety and health issues within departments.
  • Plan and implement training for employees in HSE practices.
  • Maintain HSMS comparable to ISO 14001 and ISO 18000 standards.
  • Lead Safety third-party certification audits.
  • Monitor and evaluate site security performance and recommend corrective actions.
  • Plan and implement security programs such as Emergency Response and Crisis Management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Safety, Occupational Health, Industrial Engineering or related field preferred.
  • 2-3 years related experience with knowledge of state and federal safety, health, and environmental regulations in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in the food industry is preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience in operations.
  • Leadership experience is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge and experience with Benchmark, Link 360.
  • Change management experience in a high-performance, fast-paced manufacturing setting.
