How your role fits into Boldt: The Safety Operations Manager will create and implement extraordinary safety programs designed to protect our employees, the environment, and facilities. This person will work closely with Boldt's Corporate Director of Safety to ensure safety and the employee well-being are always a core value using world-class techniques, training and technology to reduce risks and eliminate incidents. What you get to do: Build support through aligning with operational safety leaders to implement processes and procedures to enhance our SafeThinking strategies. Collaborate and influence the culture and direction of the Boldt Safety Program. Assist in the development and implementation of strategies that ensure health and safety systems, procedures, and policies are in place that enable Boldt to sustain extraordinary culture. Develop, recommend, implement and monitor company safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health and safety. Create a supportive environment which enhances human potential, improves employee morale and increases productivity. Work with labor relations to support practices, policies and programs that cultivate positive employee relationships in the workforce. Develop and support training programs and other development initiatives which drive and facilitate our success. Evaluate effectiveness of initiatives through safety and wellness assessments and compile and interpret data to identify gaps and implement action plans as necessary. Create and maintain a communications process for shared takeaways between operating groups including driving appropriate corrective actions across the company. Enhance and strengthen management awareness and responsiveness to safety trends and opportunities through relevant and timely information sharing. Diagnose cultural opportunities and influence ground-breaking change in values, structure and leadership practices. Approach safety and well-being with a Lean mentality to help identify and eliminate waste. Ensure accuracy and relevance with continuous improvement through review and development of policies and procedures. Contribute to effective communication by listening and providing constructive feedback; supporting the creation of an open and honest work environment; cascading and sharing knowledge and information relevant to employees across the company. What we expect from you: Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Construction Management or other related degree required. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Minimum of five years of construction/industrial safety experience required. Advanced knowledge of safety and ability to gain the respect and trust of personnel as well as behavior management to be in compliance with federal, state, local and company safety policies/regulations. Great interpersonal and communication skills are crucial. A valid driver's license may be required. Individuals in this role may be subject to an annual Motor Vehicle Records check. The outcome of any MVR checks conducted may negatively impact the persons' ability to participate in any vehicle program provided by the company, including but not limited to the ability to drive a personal vehicle on behalf of The Boldt Company or rent a vehicle through for business travel purposes. Physical requirements and working conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to position objects and operate tools or controls. Employee occasionally uses computer keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to position self to maneuver in confined or awkward spaces. The employee regularly is required to remain in a stationary position and move to access people or machinery or workspaces. Employee is occasionally required to ascend and/or descend a ladder or stairs to reach work areas. The employee must regularly move up to 20 pounds and occasionally move up to 50 pounds. The employee is regularly required to travel (as vehicle driver and as passenger on various modes of transportation) and frequently performs work on-site at construction work sites. Specific abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employee views computer monitor regularly. The employee is required to be able to optimally communicate while on the job site and throughout the completion of duties. The working conditions of this position requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to maintain safety and prevent exposure to harmful materials. The environment for which this position functions may be exposed to prolonged loud noises and may contain scents and fragrances. May be requested to work overtime and weekends.
