About the position

The Safety Program Manager at Allied Universal is responsible for managing various Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) functions and supporting the implementation of safety programs and policies. This role ensures compliance with regulatory agencies such as OSHA and EPA, while fostering a culture of safety within the organization. The position requires a proactive approach to continuous learning and adaptability in a fast-paced environment, leveraging technology to enhance safety management and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and distribute safety policies and procedures.
  • Review and update safety policies and procedures periodically.
  • Manage safety policy roll-out and distribution in collaboration with various departments.
  • Review required safety training and coordinate with the training department.
  • Manage annual regulatory survey requests and coordinate with regulatory representatives.
  • Support safety content development for the company's micro messaging application.
  • Manage and administer the corporate safety inbox.
  • Participate in regional and local safety meetings and present summaries of safety initiatives.
  • Provide technical and regulatory support to employees at all levels.
  • Analyze business intelligence data to identify trends for decision-making.
  • Conduct daily analyses of incident data, including workers' compensation injuries and vehicle incidents.
  • Assist operations with incident investigations and root cause analyses.
  • Support OSHA/MSHA recordkeeping and reporting responsibilities.
  • Support vendor verification platform compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Public Health, or a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of operations safety experience.
  • Strong knowledge of occupational safety and health standards, regulations, and applicable laws.
  • Proficiency in web-based applications and programs, including Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with senior leadership and peers.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in ASP, OHST, CHST, STS, CIH, CHSM, CSP, or GSP.
  • OSHA 30 certification (General Industry or Construction).
  • Experience with BI tools like DOMO and SmartSheets.
