About the position

The Safety & QA Special Project Manager at McLane Company is responsible for overseeing quality assurance and safety protocols within the food distribution industry. This role involves maintaining compliance with QA requirements, ensuring operational safety, and fostering a culture of product protection. The manager will act as a content expert, facilitate audits, and lead safety programs while collaborating with various departments to provide guidance and training.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a content expert for quality assurance.
  • Understand all customer QA requirements and relevant government entities.
  • Maintain procedures and training manuals required to ensure compliance with QA requirements.
  • Perform internal mock audits and serve as primary point of contact for all QA audits.
  • Facilitate all federal, state and local inspections of the facility including documentation of the site visit.
  • Conduct internal inspections to ensure all QA records and logs are maintained properly.
  • Ensure all operations are in compliance with government regulations and requirements.
  • Partner with department heads to provide QA and safety guidance and training.
  • Lead all safety-related programs including monthly safety committee meetings and safety training.
  • Update safety awareness boards and manage post-accident and injury preventability rulings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 5-7 years' experience in warehousing, distribution, QA and/or safety.
  • Understanding of computer software related to record keeping and communication.
  • Preferred experience with Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Experience in managing, training and directing large work groups.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Experience in planning and analytical reporting.
  • Ability to document, analyze and interpret general business periodicals and technical procedures.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work within a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in food distribution industry.
  • Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and local/state agency regulations.
