About the position

The Safety & Risk Control Consultant role at NFP involves providing expert safety and risk management solutions to clients primarily in the Upstate New York region. This full-time position allows for remote work when not traveling to client sites, with travel requirements of up to 60%. The consultant will implement safety programming, analyze risk exposures, and develop recommendations to reduce loss frequency, while also acting as a liaison between clients and insurance markets.

Responsibilities

  • Implement safety programming and risk management programs for various commercial industry segments, including construction.
  • Act as a liaison to designated insurance markets and participate in business planning.
  • Analyze risk exposures, loss trends, and effectiveness of safety controls to develop recommendations and service plans.
  • Conduct safety and loss control surveys of clients' operations and prepare written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Provide safety and risk management training programs at various levels, including management and regulatory compliance.
  • Interpret and apply local, state, and federal regulations such as OSHA, NFPA, DOT, and FMCSA.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in safety, loss control, property/casualty insurance risk management, or a related field.
  • A BA or BS degree is required.
  • CSP, ASP, CHST, ALCM, ARM, PRM, CRMP, PRC or similar designation is highly preferred.
  • OSHA #500 and/or #510 certifications are preferred.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Strong data analysis skills and proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with safety/risk control web-based systems and applications.
  • Proven safety and risk control training and public speaking experience.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
