About the position

The Safety Services Program Administrator at Divers Alert Network (DAN) is responsible for supporting safety programs in recreational scuba diving, focusing on risk mitigation, training, and education. This role involves coordinating safety initiatives, responding to training inquiries, managing educational resources, and engaging in outreach efforts to promote safety in diving. The position requires a proactive individual who can handle various tasks related to safety services and contribute to the development of new programs.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support DAN safety-related initiatives and programs internationally.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding safety activities, training systems, and operational diving queries.
  • Generate and report on surveys related to safety programs.
  • Proofread and produce written articles on safety in the diving industry.
  • Compile newsletters and safety tools for distribution.
  • Present safety topics on public platforms and teach students in safety services programs.
  • Update databases of service providers, training instructors, dive safety officers, and recompression chambers.
  • Represent DAN at various events and presentations as assigned.
  • Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the recreational diving industry.
  • Experience in the operation of medical, recompression, and/or commercial diving hyperbaric facilities.
  • Field experience in first aid and training of scuba diving or related first aid programs.
  • Experience in diving safety functions and related non-diving activities.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English; proficiency in Spanish is beneficial.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional scuba diving rating desired.
  • DAN First Aid Instructor or equivalent certification desired.
  • Experience in underwater activities other than recreational diving.
  • Written or produced articles in diving and/or hyperbaric fields.
  • Experience in presenting on diving safety topics.
