About the position

The Safety Services Program Administrator at Divers Alert Network (DAN) plays a crucial role in supporting safety programs related to recreational scuba diving. This position involves risk mitigation, training, and education, as well as managing various safety initiatives and programs. The administrator will engage in routine tasks, respond to training queries, and oversee the administration of safety-related grants and educational resources.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support DAN safety-related initiatives and programs internationally.
  • Respond to information and communications on safety activities, including training systems and risk mitigation queries.
  • Generate and report on surveys related to safety programs.
  • Proof-read and produce written articles on safety in the diving industry.
  • Compile newsletters and safety tools for distribution.
  • Present safety topics on public platforms.
  • Teach students in various safety services programs.
  • Update databases of service providers, training instructors, and dive safety officers through electronic and direct communication.
  • Represent DAN at various events and presentations as assigned.
  • Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably with recognized training in scuba diving or safety-related fields.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the recreational diving industry.
  • Experience in the operation of medical, recompression, or commercial diving hyperbaric facilities.
  • Field experience in first aid and training of scuba diving or related first aid programs.
  • Experience in diving safety functions and underwater activities.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work in a team.
  • Highly proficient in English; Spanish as a second language is beneficial.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional scuba diving rating desired.
  • DAN First Aid Instructor or equivalent desired.
  • Experience in writing or producing articles in diving and hyperbaric fields.
  • Experience in supporting and implementing training programs.
