About the position

The Safety Specialist I or II at The L.E. Myers Co. plays a crucial role in ensuring safety compliance during electric construction projects. This position involves close collaboration with field staff, clients, subcontractors, and management to uphold safety standards and foster positive professional relationships. The specialist will conduct site visits, develop safety plans, and provide training to ensure adherence to safety regulations and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ongoing site visits to observe and document safety behaviors and work conditions.
  • Coordinate with Operations teams to create site-specific safety plans.
  • Participate in safety meetings to review job hazard analysis and hazard recognition tools.
  • Support client-specific safety requirements and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Coach and mentor project site personnel regarding safety practices.
  • Conduct proactive behavior-based and quality-focused field safety observations.
  • Partner with Safety, Safety Training & Operations teams to schedule required employee trainings.
  • Conduct accident/injury investigations including root cause analyses.
  • Provide support for incident case management and documentation steps.
  • Assist in assessment of safety performance trends and implement process improvements.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety (EHS) field roles for Level I; 5 years for Level II.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of one safety certification is preferred (e.g., CSHO, CHST, SMS, SSH, CSP).
  • Undergraduate degree in Safety Management or related field preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite programs, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of OSHA and other industry-related safety regulations.
