About the position

Safety Specialists at The L.E. Myers Co. play a crucial role in ensuring safety compliance during electric construction projects. They collaborate with field staff, clients, subcontractors, and management to uphold safety policies and foster professional relationships. This position involves site visits, safety planning, and training, with a significant travel requirement of up to 75%.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ongoing site visits to observe and document safety behaviors and work conditions.
  • Coordinate with Operations teams to create site-specific safety plans.
  • Participate in safety meetings to review job hazard analysis and hazard recognition tools.
  • Support client-specific safety requirements programs and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Coach and mentor project site personnel regarding safety practices.
  • Conduct proactive behavior-based and quality-focused field safety observations.
  • Partner with Safety, Safety Training & Operations teams to schedule required employee trainings.
  • Conduct accident/injury investigations including root cause analyses.
  • Provide support for incident case management and documentation steps.
  • Assist in assessing safety performance trends and implementing process improvements.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety (EHS) field roles (Level I).
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of one safety certification is preferred (e.g., CSHO, CHST, SMS, SSH, CSP).
  • Undergraduate degree in Safety Management or related field preferred (Level I).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in EHS field roles (Level II).
  • Basic understanding of electric construction project management practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite programs, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and other industry-related safety regulations.
