About the position

The Safety and Compliance Specialist at Global Power Components plays a crucial role in maintaining and improving safety compliance systems within the organization. This position is essential for ensuring that all safety protocols are adhered to, including operator training, safety audits, and environmental compliance. The specialist will work closely with various departments to enforce safe practices and conduct risk assessments, contributing to a safe working environment as the company continues to grow.

Responsibilities

  • Help maintain and improve all safety compliance systems, including operator training, forklift, overhead crane, and aerial lifts.
  • Manage the respirator program and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Conduct hazard communication and safety audits.
  • Assist with new hire safety training and periodic environmental compliance requirements.
  • Support 3rd party inspections and maintenance programs.
  • Conduct facility safety audits and provide corrective actions.
  • Complete reports and verify corrective actions taken.
  • Perform paint department audits and inventory PPE assessments for each department.
  • Conduct risk assessments and enforce preventative measures.
  • Lead toolbox meetings and learning opportunities for employees.
  • Prepare reports of findings with recommendations for corrective action.
  • Support ongoing production processes and new operations.
  • Enforce safe behavior and workplace practices.
  • Perform routine process audits, such as crane operations.
  • Assist the safety team in investigating incidents, accidents, and near misses.
  • Coordinate emergency response activities, including updating plans and leading drills.
  • Develop, maintain, monitor, and update compliance with OSHA regulations.

Requirements

  • Experience in safety compliance and training in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to maintain good working relationships with various teams.
  • Ability to conduct safety audits and risk assessments effectively.
  • Experience in developing and implementing safety training programs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in safety management or related field.
  • Experience with environmental compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with safety auditing tools and techniques.
