About the position

The Safety Supervisor plays a crucial role in supporting safety and health processes within the organization. This position assists the Safety Manager in leading safety initiatives at the plant, focusing on compliance with safety regulations and the reduction of workplace injuries. The Safety Supervisor is responsible for implementing and evaluating safety programs and procedures to foster a culture of safety awareness and responsibility among employees.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain compliance with federal and state OSHA requirements and applicable consensus standards.
  • Provide direct support to employees in the manufacturing environment, including activities such as climbing ladders and stairs, working in hot environments, and wearing advanced PPE.
  • Deliver required safety-related training and support the effective implementation of safety programs.
  • Assist in the prevention of accidents and support plant safety goals.
  • Collaborate with the management team and employees to promote a culture of safety awareness and responsibility.
  • Oversee employee engagement efforts, including safety committees and behavioral assessment processes.
  • Serve as an active member of the Corporate EHS Team and provide subject matter expertise on specific regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with workers' compensation management and the return-to-work program.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of occupational safety and health experience in industrial operations.
  • Knowledge of federal, state (Louisiana), and local regulations, as well as relevant consensus standards (e.g., ANSI, NFPA).
  • Experience with Behavioral Safety Auditing techniques.
  • Education or experience in Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Ability to coach and train employees.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task and prioritize projects.
  • Interpersonal skills to resolve conflict and reach agreements with others.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field from an accredited university or college.
