The Mundy Companies, a leader in the industrial maintenance, services, and construction fields, is currently hiring for a Safety Technician position in the Pasadena, Texas area. This is a temporary position expected to last between 6 to 8 weeks, with a work schedule of five 10-hour days per week, plus overtime as needed. The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years of continuous and current experience as a Safety Technician in a petrochemical, industrial, or manufacturing environment. The role of the Safety Technician is critical as it involves overseeing projects and maintenance to ensure compliance with health and safety standards, processes, communications, training, and systems. Flexibility is essential, as roles and responsibilities may change based on the immediate needs of the site. The Safety Technician will be responsible for maintaining a safe workplace, ensuring that all health and safety policies are adhered to, and that the workplace is free from risks to health. This includes ensuring the safe operation of plant machinery, proper storage and use of hazardous materials, and the provision of adequate first aid and welfare facilities. The technician will also be responsible for conducting risk assessments, implementing necessary safety measures, and ensuring that emergency procedures are in place. Regular surveillance and reporting on health and safety practices will be required, along with immediate reporting of any incidents to the Mundy Site Manager. The technician will actively participate in the Safety Awareness Program, maintain safety data, and conduct daily safety audits on-site. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement, with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions efficiently. Clear communication skills, both oral and written, are essential. Additionally, all applicants must be craft certified or possess the ability to pass a craft test, as well as meet other qualifications such as passing a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
