About the position

The Sales Account Executive will be responsible for driving sales growth in Tennessee, particularly within the government sector. This role requires a self-motivated sales professional with over 10 years of experience in government and federal contracts. The candidate will develop and execute strategies to meet sales goals, build relationships with key stakeholders, and navigate complex procurement processes. Frequent travel is expected, and the position offers a lucrative commission model and opportunities for professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a robust sales strategy focused on securing and expanding contracts with federal and state government entities.
  • Foster long-term relationships with key decision-makers, procurement officers, and stakeholders in government and federal organizations.
  • Leverage deep understanding of federal and state contracting procedures, including RFP/RFQ processes, compliance, and negotiation tactics, to close deals effectively.
  • Identify and qualify new opportunities within the government vertical, build a strong sales pipeline, and maintain accurate forecasts.
  • Manage existing government and federal accounts, ensuring client satisfaction while identifying opportunities for cross-selling and upselling services and products.
  • Focus on meeting and exceeding sales targets and KPIs with an emphasis on measurable outcomes and long-term contract success.
  • Travel frequently within Tennessee and occasionally across the U.S. to meet clients, attend industry conferences, and close high-value contracts.
  • Work closely with internal teams such as product development, legal, and operations to ensure client requirements are met and contracts are executed seamlessly.
  • Attend government-related events, conferences, and networking sessions to stay updated with the latest industry trends and build new relationships.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of sales experience, with a major focus on government and federal contracts in the U.S.
  • Demonstrated success in achieving sales targets and securing government contracts, with deep knowledge of the public procurement cycle.
  • Ability to think on your feet, navigate complex contracts, and overcome objections with creative solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a knack for building trust-based relationships with government stakeholders and internal teams.
  • Proficient in contract negotiation and closing deals, with the ability to navigate complex regulatory frameworks.
  • Passion for driving results with minimal supervision, taking ownership of the sales process from lead generation to contract closure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting to C-level executives and government officials.
  • Familiarity with CRM tools, sales forecasting software, and other digital platforms used in sales tracking and communication.
  • Deep understanding of the processes, regulations, and unique requirements of the public sector in Tennessee and beyond.
