About the position

The Sales Account Specialist for the Lexington, KY Territory at TELA Bio is a pivotal role responsible for driving sales generation for the company's OviTex product portfolio. This position requires a proactive approach in developing and maintaining strong relationships with both prospective and existing clients, working closely under the guidance of the Territory Manager. The successful candidate will be adept at communicating complex clinical data and will demonstrate exceptional organizational skills to assist the Territory Manager in effectively leveraging client relationships. In this role, the Sales Account Specialist will support the Account Manager in planning and implementing a comprehensive sales development plan tailored for the assigned territory. This includes preparing and implementing materials that effectively communicate complex clinical data, aimed at assisting surgeons in making informed product selections based on patient co-morbidities and wound classifications. Collaboration with the firm's Commercial Operations team is essential to ensure successful outcomes for clients, which include hospitals, surgeons, and patients within the assigned territory. The specialist will also play a key role in developing and executing business plans that not only meet short-term revenue objectives but also identify and optimize longer-term opportunities within the geographic area. Maintaining and updating the firm's CRM database is crucial, ensuring that client information is current and accurate. Participation in national and regional commercial team meetings and calls is expected, where sharing best practices with peers will help replicate success across the team.

Responsibilities

  • Support Account Manager in planning and implementing sales development plan for assigned territory.
  • Prepare and implement materials to communicate complex clinical data to assist surgeons in product selection.
  • Collaborate with the Commercial Operations team to ensure successful outcomes for clients in the assigned territory.
  • Assist in developing and implementing business plans to meet short-term revenue objectives and optimize long-term opportunities.
  • Maintain and update the firm's CRM database with current client information.
  • Participate in national and regional commercial team meetings and share best practices with peers.

Requirements

  • BA or BS in a relevant degree program.
  • Minimum 3+ years of sales experience in the life science industry, preferably in the biologics space.
  • Experience in hernia repair, abdominal wall reconstruction, or plastic/soft tissue reconstruction preferred.
  • Experience handling biologic tissue-based materials.
  • Knowledge of clinical needs of physicians and mechanisms of action of host response to biologic implants.
  • Ability to identify potential market opportunities based on unmet client needs.
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral).
