About the position

The Automotive Salesman is responsible for engaging with customers to understand their needs and assist them in selecting and purchasing vehicles. This role involves providing detailed information about vehicle features, advantages, and benefits, while acting as a liaison between the customer and the dealership. The Salesman aims to achieve sales targets, maintain strong customer relationships, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction throughout the purchasing process.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and engage customers as they arrive at the dealership, either in-person or through online inquiries.
  • Qualify customers by determining their vehicle needs and preferences.
  • Offer advice on vehicle options, features, and financing options.
  • Schedule test drives and guide customers through the vehicle demonstration process.
  • Present and explain financing options, including loan and other payment plans.
  • Provide clear and honest pricing information, including trade-in appraisals.
  • Stay updated on product specifications, features, and pricing for all vehicles in the dealership's inventory.
  • Understand competitive models and industry trends to offer knowledgeable comparisons to customers.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers to encourage repeat business and referrals.
  • Assist customers with post-sale needs, including vehicle delivery, documentation, and follow-up services.
  • Resolve customer complaints or concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Meet or exceed sales goals and quotas set by the dealership.
  • Participate in promotions and marketing campaigns to drive sales.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales leads, customer interactions, and vehicle inventory.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork and documentation for vehicle sales and financing.
  • Process trade-in vehicles, vehicle registration, and other necessary transactions.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records, including new and used vehicles.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (college degree may be preferred).
  • Proven experience in sales, preferably in automotive sales, retail, or customer service.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to learn about a wide range of vehicle makes and models.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
  • Basic computer skills for inventory management and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

  • Previous experience with dealership software systems.

  • A strong understanding of vehicle financing options.
