About the position

The Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) Demand Planner at Valmont Industries plays a crucial role in managing demand within the supply chain planning and execution horizons. This position involves cross-functional collaboration to capture, analyze, and align demand inputs and outputs, ensuring that the demand plan aligns with North American operations. The Demand Planner is responsible for developing relationships with key stakeholders and making decisions that impact the demand plan, while also facilitating discussions around variances and trade-offs. This role requires effective communication and the ability to lead special projects and strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with business leaders to gather, evaluate, and rationalize unconstrained forecast information for a 12-18 month demand plan.
  • Facilitate generation of a consensus demand plan aligned with the capacity and capability of supply chain operations.
  • Assist in the development of the Annual Operating Plan and reconcile it with demand plans.
  • Organize, facilitate, and report on demand planning meetings with multiple market channel and product line owners.
  • Communicate effectively any variations or gaps to plan alignment, both orally and in writing.
  • Influence and collaborate with key partners in functional teams including sales, marketing, finance, supply chain, operations, engineering, and product management.
  • Ensure the demand plan is shared in the required format, level of detail, and timing with all customers and supply chain partners.
  • Capture, analyze, and translate demand signals into meaningful requirements plans for material, capacity, and other supply chain resources.
  • Evaluate buying patterns of key customers and create recommendations for future production capacity, inventory, and service components.
  • Use what-if analysis to create scenarios and recommendations to determine risk and upside potential for demand plans.
  • Identify S&OP KPIs impacted by demand planning activities and outputs.
  • Align and coordinate with Regional Planning and Operational leaders to support execution activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience or Associate's degree with 8+ years of experience or 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Tableau, or other relevant business analytic tools.
  • APICS CPIM, CFPIM, SCOR-P, or CSCP certification, or the ability to complete certification within 18 months of hire date.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality of work.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into high-level analysis and demand planning.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated success at building relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field is preferred.
  • Prior experience orchestrating a multi-tiered demand plan and evaluating end-to-end supply chain impacts.
  • Prior experience in finance, sales and marketing, or manufacturing operations.
  • Ability to analyze large amounts of data and translate conclusions into actionable results.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of mathematics and high-level data analysis.
  • IFS or similar ERP system high-level user.
