About the position

The Sales and Operations Planning Manager at Charter Dura-Bar, Inc. is responsible for managing and enhancing the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process to align demand and supply effectively. This role supports strategic business goals by overseeing production planning, scheduling activities, and inventory management to ensure customer service objectives are met at the lowest total cost. The position requires strong leadership and project management skills, with a focus on continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage and enhance the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process to balance demand and supply.
  • Lead key business stakeholders through the monthly S&OP process to optimize production capacity and costs.
  • Oversee long-term production planning, scheduling, and inventory control teams to meet customer and business needs.
  • Ensure efficient processes around forecasting and plant scheduling.
  • Manage and optimize inventory levels to balance customer service, total cost, and economic profit objectives.
  • Manage the disposition of at-risk and obsolete inventory.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement of scheduling methods and tools.
  • Look for innovative ways to extend capacity and improve uptime and productivity through effective scheduling and sequencing.
  • Develop and lead a strong team of capable supply chain professionals.
  • Continuous improvement of people, processes, and tools/systems within Planning and Scheduling.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business or a related field.
  • Seven plus years' experience in Supply Chain (Planning, S&OP) and manufacturing environments.
  • Strong demonstrated leadership, judgment, and decision-making skills with direct supervisory experience.
  • Proven success in value-added planning of products and services in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to create, modify and improve S&OP processes across multiple functions.
  • Strong project management skills and experience leading Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Proficient in advanced features of Microsoft Office software products.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree (MBA, Supply Chain, Operations, or equivalent preferred).
  • Ten plus years' experience in a planning environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Planning and Scheduling experience with both continuous and discrete manufacturing.
  • CPM, CPIM, or APICS Certification.
  • Technical knowledge of metals manufacturing, products, and processes.
  • Experience with customers in the Agricultural, Construction and Defense end markets.
  • Continuous Improvement experience - Six Sigma and/or Lean manufacturing experience.
