The Sales Application Engineer for Defense and Federal Projects is responsible for planning and managing projects within the Power Systems Sales Department, specifically targeting Federal, Military, and State Government opportunities. This role involves preparing submittal packages for engineering approval, procuring equipment from vendors, tracking shipments, receiving equipment, and arranging for its delivery. The engineer will also manage equipment startup, testing, and commissioning, while ensuring that project costs are tracked and controlled to meet profit goals. A key aspect of this position is providing individualized technical support to Sales Staff, Design Engineers, Customers, and Site Contractors, both on-site and remotely through various communication methods. In this role, the engineer will provide technical support for current and potential Power Systems Projects, reviewing project specifications and design documents to identify efficient engineering solutions that meet high standards. The engineer will interface with vendors to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications, create and assemble project technical submittals, and ensure timely production and approval through effective correspondence with contractors, engineers, and owners. Additionally, the engineer will maintain a project cost worksheet to ensure profit goals are met and prepare project invoicing folders for the Sales Administration Manager. Regular updates on project status, problems, and profit margins will be communicated to all relevant staff, ensuring that everyone is informed. The engineer will conduct on-site visits as necessary to prepare for equipment delivery, installation, and startup, notifying installation contractors of any site deficiencies that must be addressed prior to these activities. Technical assistance and support will be provided to Start-Up personnel, Contractors, Engineers, or owners as needed, and the engineer will coordinate schedules for start-up and training of Field Start-Up Technicians. Maintaining a visible presence during Start-Ups is crucial to reinforce customer commitment, and the engineer will be responsible for accurate and complete Start-Up documentation, ensuring timely entry into the Service Systems through the Gregory Poole Service Department. A "punch list" will be developed based on feedback from Contractors, Engineers, and customers, with a focus on resolving items quickly. The position also requires maintaining knowledge of current and new product offerings and attending necessary training and seminars. The role involves work on military installations, necessitating high-level security clearance for access. Candidates who cannot obtain security clearance need not apply, and preference will be given to those with former Military Construction experience and an active Top Secret security clearance. The position is eligible for listing on GPEC Unlimited Electrical license and GPEC General Contracting License upon successful completion of NC licensing requirements.
