As a Sales Area Manager for Performance Foodservice, you will play a crucial role in the development of independent account business within the St. Louis Metro and North County areas. This position emphasizes overall profitability through both new sales and account penetration, promoting and selling company-branded products while meeting brand sales objectives. You will also support customer service activities for regional and national chain customers, thereby increasing the visibility of the company in the marketplace and maximizing market share. Your role will require you to function as a team member within the department and organization, performing any duties assigned to best serve the company. In this position, you will be responsible for generating additional business by analyzing your sales territory and individual customers. This includes sampling products with existing and potential customers, planning a general sales strategy that includes time and territory management, and conducting effective sales presentations. You will be expected to grow sales and profit margins on an ongoing basis to meet established sales and margin goals. Setting up new customer accounts will also be part of your responsibilities, which involves determining pricing, working with the Credit Department for initial authorization, and coordinating with other personnel for order-taking and deliveries. Customer satisfaction is paramount, and you will ensure this by providing an exemplary level of service. This involves working closely with other center personnel to coordinate efforts to prevent and resolve customer problems, and in emergency situations, you may be personally responsible for making deliveries. Additionally, you will build additional business with current customers through product penetration to maximize the profitability of individual accounts. Monitoring accounts for compliance with credit terms will help minimize accounts receivable problems, and maintaining awareness of pricing trends within your sales territory will ensure competitive pricing. You will also perform other related duties as assigned to support the overall goals of the company.
