About the position

The Area Manager position at Performance Foodservice is a pivotal role that involves managing a designated geographical sales territory. This position is responsible for developing and nurturing relationships with independent and regional accounts, ensuring that business objectives related to sales and profit are met. The Area Manager will regularly engage with both existing and potential customers, providing them with the necessary support and guidance to enhance their operations and product offerings. This role requires a proactive approach to business development, where the Area Manager will develop and execute strategic business plans tailored to the needs of the customers in their territory. In addition to customer engagement, the Area Manager will effectively manage their time and resources to achieve desired results. This includes building business through the promotion of company-branded products, managing pricing strategies, and ensuring compliance with credit terms. The Area Manager will play a crucial role in driving sales growth and operational success within their assigned territory, making it essential to have a strong understanding of the foodservice industry and the specific needs of the customers they serve.

Responsibilities

  • Manages a geographical sales territory ensuring that independent and regional account business is developed and budgeted sales and profit objectives are achieved.
  • Regularly calls on existing and potential customers.
  • Develops and executes business plans.
  • Effectively manages time and resources to attain results.
  • Builds business through support of company branded product.
  • Manages pricing and monitors credit term compliance.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 1-2 years sales related work experience
  • Basic/Intermediate computer skills including, MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
  • Bilingual English / Spanish

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Sales, Business Management or related field
  • Two or more years of foodservice sales experience
  • Foodservice distribution industry experience
  • Culinary training and/or experience, i.e. sous chef, chef, kitchen manager
  • Sales related systems experience, i.e. online ordering, data entry, pricing tools, sales dashboard, etc.
