About the position

The Area Manager position at Performance Foodservice is a pivotal role that involves managing a designated geographical sales territory. The Area Manager will regularly engage with both existing and potential customers, providing them with tailored solutions that enhance their operations and menu offerings. This role requires a proactive approach to business development, where the Area Manager will create and implement effective business plans to drive growth in their territory. In addition to customer engagement, the Area Manager will be tasked with managing time and resources efficiently to achieve desired results. This includes overseeing the pricing strategies for products and ensuring compliance with credit terms. The Area Manager will also play a crucial role in promoting company-branded products, thereby contributing to the overall success of the sales team. The position demands a blend of strategic thinking, relationship management, and operational oversight to ensure that Performance Foodservice continues to deliver exceptional value to its customers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a geographical sales territory to develop independent and regional account business.
  • Regularly call on existing and potential customers to build relationships and drive sales.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive business plans to achieve sales and profit objectives.
  • Effectively manage time and resources to attain results in the sales territory.
  • Build business through support of company branded products.
  • Manage pricing strategies and monitor compliance with credit terms.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of sales-related work experience.
  • Basic/Intermediate computer skills including MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Sales, Business Management or related field.
  • Two or more years of foodservice sales experience.
  • Experience in the foodservice distribution industry.
  • Culinary training and/or experience, such as sous chef, chef, or kitchen manager.
  • Experience with sales-related systems, such as online ordering, data entry, pricing tools, and sales dashboards.
