About the position

The Area Manager position at Performance Foodservice is a pivotal role that involves managing a designated geographical sales territory. This position is responsible for developing and nurturing relationships with independent and regional accounts, ensuring that business objectives related to sales and profit are met. The Area Manager will regularly engage with both existing and potential customers, providing them with tailored solutions that enhance their operations and menu offerings. This role requires a proactive approach to business development, where the Area Manager will develop and execute strategic business plans aimed at achieving budgeted sales targets. In addition to customer engagement, the Area Manager will effectively manage their time and resources to maximize results. This includes building business through the support of company-branded products, managing pricing strategies, and ensuring compliance with credit terms. The Area Manager will also be expected to analyze market trends and customer needs to identify new business opportunities, thereby contributing to the overall growth and success of Performance Foodservice in the competitive foodservice distribution industry.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a geographical sales territory to develop independent and regional account business.
  • Regularly call on existing and potential customers to build relationships and drive sales.
  • Develop and execute strategic business plans to achieve budgeted sales and profit objectives.
  • Effectively manage time and resources to attain results in sales performance.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of sales-related work experience.
  • Basic/Intermediate computer skills including MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Sales, Business Management or related field.
  • Two or more years of foodservice sales experience.
  • Experience in the foodservice distribution industry.
  • Culinary training and/or experience, such as sous chef, chef, or kitchen manager.
  • Experience with sales-related systems, such as online ordering, data entry, pricing tools, and sales dashboards.
