About the position

The Sales Associate position at Goodwill of Washington is a part-time role focused on providing exceptional customer service and supporting retail operations. Associates will engage with customers, manage merchandise, and maintain a clean and organized store environment while contributing to the community's positive impact.

Responsibilities

• Provides professional and courteous service to all customers inside the store, outside of the store, and on the phone.
• Assures merchandise is placed on the sales floor in a timely manner.
• Ensures items are rung accurately on the register.
• Demonstrates accurate cash handling skills, including making change and operating the cash register and card machines.
• Maintains knowledge of merchandise and answers customer questions courteously and promptly.
• Keeps floor merchandise neat and orderly and assists customers with purchase selections.
• Maintains a clean professional appearance.
• Maintains an orderly and clean register area.
• Familiarizes with store security procedures and exercises security practices when necessary.
• Performs general housekeeping responsibilities, including store upkeep duties.

Requirements

• Ability to effectively communicate with customers and associates.
• Ability to provide exceptional customer service to all customers.
• Ability to settle customer complaints.
• Ability to perform basic math skills.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time (up to 7 hours per 8-hour shift).
• Ability to bend and lift up to 40 pounds frequently.
• Basic working knowledge of computer applications and the internet.

Nice-to-haves

• A minimum of six months of previous work experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience working in a retail environment.
• Excellent customer service related skills.
• Working knowledge of a cash register.
• Multilingual with complete fluency in English.
