About the position

The Sales Associate/Material Handler at The Salvation Army's Fontana Thrift Store plays a crucial role in supporting the Adult Rehabilitation Program by ensuring a positive shopping and donation experience for customers and donors. This part-time position involves various responsibilities, including customer service, inventory management, and maintaining store cleanliness, all aimed at contributing to the success of the program and its participants.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all customers and donors' needs are met with genuine greetings and prompt assistance.
• Stock priced items ready for merchandising on the sales floor.
• Assist in maintaining the store and donation area to keep it clean, neat, and organized.
• Perform cleaning duties as assigned by management.
• Follow all POS/Cash Register policies in accordance with TSA policies and procedures.
• Maintain safety and compliance standards.
• Attend required monthly store meetings.
• Receive, unload, and stock incoming inventory items accurately and efficiently.
• Provide quality assurance by inspecting products for defects and damages.
• Assist donors in removing donated items from their vehicles and provide receipts.
• Separate and sort all donated materials into proper containers and stack them as instructed by management.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• High School diploma/GED or equivalent required.
• Ability to accurately handle POS/Cash Register operations and cash transactions.
• Must pass a background check, including Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry.
• Effective communication skills with management, fellow employees, customers, and donors.
