About the position

The Sales Associate/Material Handler at The Salvation Army Thrift Store plays a crucial role in providing excellent customer service and supporting the store's operations. This part-time position involves engaging with customers and donors, maintaining store organization, and ensuring a positive shopping experience while contributing to the Adult Rehabilitation Program.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all customers and donors' needs are met with genuine greetings and prompt assistance.
  • Stock priced items ready for merchandising on the sales floor.
  • Assist in maintaining the store and donation area to keep it clean, neat, and organized.
  • Perform cleaning duties as assigned by management.
  • Follow all POS/Cash Register policies in accordance with TSA policies and procedures.
  • Maintain safety and compliance standards.
  • Attend required monthly store meetings.
  • Receive, unload, and stock incoming inventory items accurately and efficiently.
  • Inspect products for defects and damages to provide quality assurance.
  • Assist donors in removing donated items from their vehicles and provide receipts.
  • Separate and sort all donated materials into proper containers and stack them as instructed by management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Ability to accurately handle POS/Cash Register operations and cash transactions.
  • Must pass a background check, including Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry.
  • Effective communication skills with management, fellow employees, customers, and donors.
