About the position

The Sales Associate / Material Handler position at The Salvation Army involves providing excellent customer service and support in a retail environment. This role is essential in ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers and donors while contributing to the success of the Adult Rehabilitation Program. The position requires flexibility in scheduling, including evenings and weekends, and emphasizes teamwork and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all customers' and donors' needs are met with genuine greetings and prompt assistance.
• Stock priced items ready for merchandising on the sales floor.
• Assist in maintaining the store and donation area to keep it clean, neat, and organized.
• Perform cleaning duties as assigned by management.
• Follow all POS/Cash Register policies in accordance with TSA policies and procedures.
• Maintain safety and compliance standards.
• Attend required monthly store meetings.
• Receive, unload, and stock incoming inventory items accurately and efficiently.
• Inspect products for defects and damages to provide quality assurance.
• Assist donors in removing donated items from their vehicles and provide receipts.
• Separate and sort donated materials into proper containers and stack them as instructed by management.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Ability to accurately handle POS/Cash Register operations and cash transactions.
• Must pass a background check, including Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry.
• Effective communication skills with management, fellow employees, customers, and donors.
