About the position

The Sales Associate at Theisen's Home Farm & Auto is responsible for providing excellent customer service and performing general sales duties within their assigned department. This role involves assisting customers in finding the right merchandise, explaining product features, and maintaining the store's cleanliness and organization. The Sales Associate will also assist with cash register operations and other tasks as needed to ensure a positive shopping experience for customers.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to all customers.
• Approach customers storewide to offer assistance and guide them to merchandise locations.
• Explain benefits and features of merchandise to customers and suggest add-on items.
• Maintain general knowledge of all products and expertise in specific areas as needed.
• Compute price quotes and order merchandise from catalogs.
• Answer telephone and customer inquiries within established guidelines.
• Practice and maintain security measures in the store.
• Communicate out-of-stock items and request new items as needed.
• Assist customers with checkout and carryouts.
• Maintain accuracy of shelf tagging and arrange merchandise displays.
• Receive merchandise shipments and check them against receiving reports.
• Restock shelves and displays and assemble products as needed.
• Perform cleaning duties including dusting, sweeping, and emptying trash.
• Participate in physical inventory and assist with unloading delivery trucks.

Requirements

• 3-12 months of retail experience preferred.
• Good customer service skills.
• Basic math skills.
• Exhibit a high level of integrity and business ethics.
• Ability to answer phones and learn cash register functions.
• Familiarity with forklift and pallet jack operations is preferred but not required.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Possess a positive attitude and good listening skills.
