About the position

As a Sales Solutions Generalist at Petco, you will play a crucial role in providing an exceptional experience for our customers by assisting them in finding and purchasing animals, supplies, and services. Your primary responsibility will be to engage with guests, understanding their needs and the needs of their pets, to offer tailored solutions that enhance their experience both today and in the future. You will also connect guests with specialists when necessary, ensuring they receive the best possible service. In addition to customer interaction, you will manage cash register operations and maintain the proper stocking and pricing of merchandise, contributing to a welcoming and organized shopping environment. Your passion for animal welfare and health will be essential in this role, as you will be expected to demonstrate a high level of interest in the proper handling and care of all animals. You will engage with guests using your acquired skills and training, ensuring that each interaction is positive and informative. By processing transactions efficiently and accurately, you will help create a memorable experience for each guest, fostering future business through a deep understanding of their needs. In this position, you will also be responsible for supporting the Pet Care Center in achieving its sales goals. This includes ensuring that merchandise is well-stocked, priced, and displayed attractively. You will complete training programs to maintain a high level of expertise in your role and adhere to established operational guidelines, policies, and procedures. Promoting a positive culture of teamwork, inclusion, and collaboration will be key to your success, as you will work closely with your colleagues to create a safe and welcoming environment for both pets and their owners.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a great experience by engaging with guests utilizing your acquired skills and training.
  • Assist guests in the proper selection of merchandise in accordance with their identified needs.
  • Demonstrate a high level of interest in the welfare, health, and proper handling of all animals.
  • Process transactions in a way that creates a great experience for each guest.
  • Generate future business through a deep understanding of the guests and their pets.
  • Perform related duties in support of the Pet Care Center attaining its assigned sales goals.
  • Ensure merchandise is stocked, priced, and displayed to create a great presentation for our guests.
  • Complete and apply training programs to maintain a high level of expertise in their role.
  • Adhere to established operational guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Promote a positive culture of teamwork, inclusion, and collaboration.
  • Complete other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Utilize selling behaviors to provide an amazing guest experience.
  • Contribute to a safe environment by following safety protocols.

Requirements

  • Be able to work successfully within a team.
  • Demonstrate a keen and genuine interest in animals and their care.
  • Possess good interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience within sales, retail, or related field.
  • Possess a high level of knowledge of pet nutrition and an aptitude for sales techniques.
