About the position

The Sales Associate at Goodwill Northern New England is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, operating the cash register, merchandising products, and maintaining a friendly atmosphere in the store. This role is essential in creating a welcoming environment for customers and supporting the overall mission of Goodwill.

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers with a smile and provide assistance to ensure an enjoyable shopping experience.
  • Ring up purchases accurately and efficiently while maintaining a cheerful demeanor.
  • Help create an inviting and organized sales floor by arranging and refreshing merchandise.
  • Attend to the fitting rooms, ensuring customers have everything they need for confident purchasing decisions.
  • Set a friendly and supportive atmosphere for customers and co-workers, building a sense of community.

Requirements

  • Positive attitude and friendly demeanor.
  • Basic math and literacy skills for handling transactions.
  • Flexibility to work a schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Physical ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, 30 lbs. of force frequently, and 10 lbs. of force constantly.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior retail experience or relevant certification.
  • High school diploma, GED, HiSET, or equivalent educational background.
