Responsibilities

  • Greet every customer within 10 feet in a timely, friendly, and courteous manner.
  • Determine customers' needs and offer appropriate service, product, and/or suggestions.
  • Personally accompany customers to the merchandise location.
  • Cultivate customers' goodwill and encourage repeat business through suggestive selling.
  • Handle customer special orders for non-stock items and write customer rain checks.
  • Educate yourself about products and retain specific knowledge about current advertised items.
  • Unload freight containers and accurately receive, check in, and price merchandise.
  • Notate overages, shortages, damages, and backorders.
  • Assist in setting up and breaking down regular, seasonal, and promotional events as assigned.
  • Accurately handle pre/post sale preparation and complete follow-up reports.
  • Perform weekly physical counts to maintain inventory levels.
  • Assist in store recovery according to proper schematics and established plan-o-grams.
  • Properly use and secure two-way radios and headsets as assigned.
  • Report any potential security, safety, or shoplifting issues to management.
  • Retrieve shopping carts and/or baskets and return them to their assigned areas.
  • Demonstrate regular and reliable attendance and report to work as scheduled.
  • Attend and participate in training sessions and monthly store meetings as required.
  • Help train new sales associates and cashiers as requested.
  • Accurately price and display merchandise in bins, shelves, and displays.
  • Assist store management in the annual preparation and taking of the store's physical inventory.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties to maintain a professional appearance of the store.
  • Perform general maintenance of the store's premises.

Requirements

  • Customer service experience preferred.
  • Retail experience preferred.
  • Cash handling experience preferred.
  • Forklift certification is a plus.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of computer systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with fellow employees, management, customers, and vendors.

  • Experience in a retail environment.
