About the position

The Sales Consultant for On Premise Spirits at Empire Merchants is responsible for maximizing the sales of supplier brands through effective territory planning, selling, merchandising, and communication. This role involves building relationships with accounts, delivering professional sales presentations, and ensuring brand visibility while achieving sales and distribution goals. The position offers a dynamic work environment with opportunities for career growth in a leading distributor of fine wines and spirits.

Responsibilities

  • Strategizes and preplans to achieve sales and merchandising objectives.
  • Calls on accounts and covers daily routes with an efficient routing pattern.
  • Analyzes account base and identifies opportunities through account visits.
  • Prepares and delivers professional sales presentations to customers.
  • Works with management on inventory levels and alerts them to fluctuations in demand.
  • Achieves distribution, volume, and activity goals set by management.
  • Maintains brand visibility within accounts using effective point of sale materials.
  • Takes inventory and restocks shelves where legally permissible.
  • Collects payments from accounts where legally permissible.
  • Educates account staff on priority brands through training seminars.
  • Develops opening orders for new accounts in collaboration with Field Sales Manager.
  • Manages customer account receivables and communicates on aged receivables.
  • Delivers products to customers in extenuating circumstances and handles customer issues.
  • Maintains professional relationships with suppliers through effective sales calls.
  • Participates in weekly sales meetings to stay informed of company and supplier activities.
  • Completes necessary training programs and maintains industry knowledge.
  • Keeps information confidential to maintain customer confidence.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
  • Ability to hold a Solicitor's Permit required.
  • Minimum of two years in sales or industry-related experience required.
  • Understanding of wine and spirits preferred.
  • Strong accounting, computer, customer service, and interpersonal skills preferred.
  • Results-oriented with excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently or within a team.
  • Proficient PC skills using MS Office and presentation software.
  • Familiarity with assigned territory is a plus.
