About the position

The Direct Sales Representative at Summit Business Group is responsible for managing their own sales territory, focusing on building relationships with small and medium-sized businesses to offer supplemental insurance products. This role emphasizes autonomy, effective communication, and a genuine desire to assist clients, ensuring they receive tailored insurance solutions that meet their needs. The position involves both cold calling and in-person visits, with a strong focus on becoming a trusted advisor to clients.

Responsibilities

  • Forge lasting relationships with business owners and key stakeholders.
  • Understand client needs and present tailored insurance solutions.
  • Engage directly with potential clients through cold calls and in-person visits.
  • Maintain relationships through effective communication and ongoing support during the claims process.
  • Respond to general emails and phone calls from clients.
  • Set follow-up appointments with prospective and current clients.
  • Call on new businesses, referrals, and existing clients for servicing.
  • Develop relationships with local business owners in your territory.
  • Submit daily sales metrics and activity reports.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in sales or customer-facing roles, preferably in outside sales.
  • Ability to conduct full training cycles, including in-person and online sessions.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
  • A deep desire to assist and empower clients, showing genuine concern for their well-being.
  • Health & Life general lines license, or willingness to obtain it within 90 days.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 4 years of professional work experience.
  • Candidates within 6 months or less of degree completion will be considered.
  • Candidates with less than 4 years of professional work experience who have relevant outside sales experience.
