New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG), a subsidiary of New Jersey Resources, is seeking a Sales Consultant to maximize new customer additions, growth, and market share of natural gas equipment within NJNG's service territory. This role targets residential and commercial markets, including conversions, new construction, added load, and may involve land development and service renewals.

Responsibilities

  • Attain market segment performance growth goals/quota.
  • Attain targeted customer satisfaction rating.
  • Develop main extension projects, along with cost-out requests and customer conversion interest mailings.
  • Provide market forecasts within the assigned territory, including community conversion projects, Planning Board research, builder interviews, and non-gas/prospect conversion needs assessment.
  • Render assistance on technical matters and recommend emerging technologies for natural gas-fired equipment.
  • Build strong relationships with co-workers, builders, and customers.
  • Qualify new customer leads, follow-ups, scheduling and meeting potential customers, conduct site visits, explain the benefits of natural gas, and promote current incentive programs and rebates.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Legal, Division, and Operations departments to maximize efficiency of new service and meter set process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, sales or marketing preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of prior sales and/or utility experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of residential construction methods, natural gas utility and/or HVAC desired.
  • Highly motivated with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and persuasive skills for closing deals.
  • Familiarity working in a sales quota environment.
  • Good networking skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work under pressure and devise sales and growth strategies.
  • Ability to explain product features and benefits in a way that stands out over competing fuel sources.
  • Excellent organization and lead management capabilities.
  • Ability to work in a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
  • Ability to navigate through Geographic Information Systems (GIS) map applications such as ESRI.

Nice-to-haves

  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
