About the position

The Direct Sales Representative at Summit Business Group is responsible for managing their own schedule and territory, focusing on building relationships with small and medium-sized businesses to offer supplemental insurance solutions. This role emphasizes autonomy, client engagement, and the ability to provide tailored insurance products that genuinely improve clients' lives. The position requires a proactive approach to sales, including cold calling and in-person visits, while maintaining ongoing support for clients throughout the sales process.

Responsibilities

  • Forge lasting relationships with business owners and key stakeholders.
  • Understand client needs and present tailored insurance solutions.
  • Engage directly with potential clients through cold calls and in-person visits.
  • Maintain relationships through effective communication and ongoing support.
  • Respond to general emails and phone calls from clients.
  • Set follow-up appointments with prospective and current clients.
  • Call on new businesses, referrals, and existing clients for servicing.
  • Build and maintain your own book of business.
  • Submit sales metrics and activity daily.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in sales or customer-facing roles, preferably in outside sales.
  • Ability to conduct full training cycles, both in-person and online.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
  • A deep desire to assist and empower clients, showing genuine concern for their well-being.
  • Health & Life general lines license, or willingness to obtain it within 90 days.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 4 years of professional work experience.
  • Candidates within 6 months of degree completion will be considered.
  • Candidates with less than 4 years of professional work experience who have relevant outside sales experience.
